About DCCW

DC Climate Week (DCCW) is a community-organized week of events, exhibitions, tours, screenings, and gatherings across the DMV. We bring together people at every level — from grassroots advocates to policymakers, students to investors — to explore the challenges of the climate crisis and to discover the solutions that give us hope. Together, we build community that drives climate action.

Our story

DCCW began as a conversation among a few DMV locals who saw the need for a space where climate-focused people and organizations could connect, collaborate, and learn.

In April 2024, we hosted a Climate Tech Edition of the existing DC Tech Meetup to test out the idea; More than 300 people gathered to learn about climate startups and discuss the growing investment in DC’s climate sector. This wasn’t just an enthusiastic turnout — it was proof that our city needed something bigger.

A year after that first meetup, Washington, DC came together in April 2025 for the very first local climate week. Launched and run entirely by 200 volunteers, the inaugural DCCW featured 152 events and 4,731 attendees. Check out our recap of the first DCCW.

Together, we’re proving that community drives action — and that in DC, climate solutions start close to home.

Mission & vision

Our mission is to drive climate action through community.

We envision a world where climate solutions are woven into every community — and where the U.S. capital region serves as a leader in sustainability.
